PFF and Hispanic-serving Institutions
 

Colleges and universities that explicitly state in their missions a commitment to serving students of Hispanic/Mexican descent and Hispanic communities are commonly referred to as Hispanic-serving Institutions or HSIs. These institutions have played a vital role in providing access and opportunity in higher education for students of Mexican and Hispanic heritage.

These institutions were important partners in the PFF programs. With their unique missions and campus cultures, the HSI partners allowed doctoral students to experience faculty life in an environment very different from the one on their research university campus.
